Seed Exchange

The Seed Exchange branch of Hyaets seeks to form connections and partnerships with local congregations, associations, and families. Ministry is meant to be done together and for the benefit of all. Seed Exchange exists so enable congregations to learn together and connect with one another and with the ministries of Hyaets.

Partners

Hyaets recieves most of its support through individuals and churches. Church congregations provide support through volunteers, use of facilities, in-kind donation, and monetary donations. Many churches include Hyaets within their yearly mission and giving budgets. Hyaets hosts mission teams to the Enderly Park/Parkview neighborhoods of Charlotte regularly. Churches spend anywhere from one day to an entire week engaging in all types of mission work centering around building community and relationships, including construction projects, community gardens, hosting community meals, sorting and delivering food and bread, Peace Week activities, and Backyard Bible Clubs. Many partner churches regularly invite and utilize Hyaets residents to host and teach workshops, seminar, bible studies, worship services, and poverty simulations. Hyaets goalis that partnerships are mutually beneficial, community building relationships between churches (and para-church organizations) and the neighbors and residents of Hyaets. Hyaets relies heavily on these types of partnerships to directly fund and support its ministries. Some of our partner churches include:

  • Park Road Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC
  • Christ United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC
  • Myers Park Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC
  • St. John's Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC
  • Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC

Volunteer

We welcome you to join us in Enderly Park. We invite you to volunteer and support our efforts to reach out to our neighbors. We love sharing life with our neighbors, but our resources are limited. So, we reach out to volunteers and mission groups like you to help us provide for our neighbors and to support us in ministry. There are many different ways to experience God through hands-on service in Enderly Park. Contact Us to inquire about volunteering.

Here are some of ways that folks have volunteered in the past:

  • Service Day for Local Business

A residential management group came and gave a day of work to our community. They set up picnic tables, put up a fence in the backyard, painted a couple of rooms, installed some ceiling fans, yard work, and other various jobs.

  • Church Mission Partnership

One ongoing partnership with a church from Virginia visits Hyaets 4 to 5 times a year. They provide day camp activities for children, take the children on field trips, help with gardening, help with construction and repair needs on the houses, help with our SHARE day activities, provide health clinics and information, and spend time building relationships with neighbors.

  • Gardening & Yarwork

Various churches and other organizations have gathered to create our prayer garden and help with the upkeep. Other groups have come to help with general yardwork.

  • Cookies & Conversation

Some groups spend an afternoon baking cookies for the neighbors, then delivering them to neighbors and spend time striking up some good conversation.

  • Trash Pick-Up

One group from a high school came and spent an hour picking up litter in our neighborhood.

  • Preparing & Sharing Community Meals

We gather twice a month as a community and share a meal together. (Community meals are the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month). We regularly have groups come and prepare the meal and help serve the food to our neighbors. One time a great big gospel sing broke out with neighbors, residents, and volunteers, all gathered around a piano!!

  • Tutoring & Help with Youth

One friend came and tutored a couple of young men in their studies. Another friend came each week and provided cooking lessons for the kids.Another friend volunteers his time to take kids and teenagers to their ball practices each week.

  • Prepare Frozen Meals

A couple of volunteers who love to cook have made meals to freezer and be used when extra food was needed for neighbors during weekday meals.

  • Household Work & Neighbor Visitation

One group came and did household work. Afterwards, they spent time sitting on the front porch and visiting with neighbors that passed by.

  • Collecting Give-Away Items

One Sunday school class collects items and puts together gift bags for our Girls Night celebration.

  • Neighborhood Construction & Renovation Projects

Several groups have come to help in renovating a neighbor’s house to make it livable.

This is just the beginning!!! Volunteers have done a variety of things in our community. We need to include your gifts and resources in our ministry and life here. Whether you are able to come and be present or want to volunteer from home, we need you. Below are some areas of constant need. This is not an extensive list, nor is it complete. We love it when volunteers offer their skills and talents and serve in ways they are passionate.

Ways to volunteer from where you are:

  • Pray for Hyaets and our neighbors (we can supply a current prayer needs list)
  • Send notes of encouragement (to Hyaets residents, to children, to adults)
  • Share Hyaets stories with others (We can help empower you to share stories or we can come share stories at your invitation)
  • Donations are welcome (please see our Current Needs List)
  • Start a donation collection

More ways to volunteer in our community:

  • Contact Hyaets with your passions and gifts and ways you would like to help
  • Pull a group together to come to Hyaets for an afternoon for a short mission project
  • Gather a few folks that would like to spend a few days immersed in Enderly Park. Stay with us and really get to know what life is like with our neighbors.
  • Mission groups are welcome to come for any amount of time. We can design a mission week or weekend to meet the interests of those attending. (Some mission groups do children’s activities; some do construction, etc.)
